Windows, Gutters and Solar in One Visit
One appointment, one flat quote, and everything on the outside of the house done in the right order. Roof and gutters first, solar panels next, glass last, so nothing lands on clean windows.
Call or text a few photos. Flat quote, usually the same day.
- One appointment
- One flat quote
- Gutters first, glass last
- Photos of roof work
Why Clean Windows, Gutters and Solar Together?
Because the jobs affect each other. Cleaning gutters and roofs knocks debris and dirty water onto windows below, and rinsing solar panels can run onto glass. Doing glass last means it stays clean. You also only book once, open the gate once and get one quote for the lot.
Gutter cleaning before window cleaning| Separate visits | One combined visit | |
|---|---|---|
| Appointments | Two or three | One |
| Order of work | Whatever order the bookings fall in | Roof and gutters, then solar, then glass |
| Risk of re-dirtied glass | Gutter or roof work can land on clean windows | Glass is cleaned last |
| Quotes | One per company or service | One flat quote |
| Photos | Depends on the company | Before and after photos of gutters and panels |

What Happens in a Combined Visit
The order of work is what makes a combined visit better than separate bookings.

We check the roofline, gutters, panels and windows, note anything damaged and agree what’s included.
Gutters and downspouts
Debris removed by hand, downspouts flushed to make sure water runs freely, and before and after photos taken.
Roof valleys and skylights (if booked)
Debris cleared from valleys around skylights, then skylights cleaned.
Solar panels
Rinsed with deionized water and cleaned with soft brushes. No soap, no pressure washer.
Windows, screens and tracks
Glass cleaned inside and out, screens brushed and rinsed, tracks and sills wiped.
Clean-up and photos
Debris bagged and removed from the property, photos sent, and a walkthrough if you’re home.
Common Service Combinations
You don’t have to book all three. These are the combinations that work best together.
Window cleaner on rope access cleaning a commercial building| Combination | Best for | Why it works |
|---|---|---|
| Windows and gutters | Homes under trees | Gutter work drips onto glass, so windows go last |
| Windows and solar | Coastal homes with panels | Both collect salt film; one deionized-water setup |
| Gutters and solar | Homes with panels under trees | Roof work done in one trip |
| Windows, gutters and solar | Most homes with panels and trees | Everything outside done in the right order |
| Add skylights | Homes with skylights under trees | Cleaned while we’re on the roof |
| Add pressure washing | Before listing or hosting | Driveways and walkways washed last, after debris comes down |
Why Order of Work Matters
Doing the right job first saves you from paying to clean the same glass twice.
| If you do this first | What happens next |
|---|---|
| Windows, then gutters | Gutter debris and dirty water drip onto clean glass and sills |
| Windows, then solar | Panel rinse water can run off the roof edge onto windows below |
| Pressure washing, then gutters | Debris from gutters lands on a freshly washed driveway |
| Gutters, solar, then windows | Each job leaves the next one clean |
It’s also simpler for you: one booking, one arrival window, one flat quote, and one set of photos.
The Best Time of Year for a Combined Visit
Based on average monthly rainfall for Santa Cruz.
| Timing | Average rain (Santa Cruz) | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Early October | 1.34 in | The last dry month before storm season; gutters clear before the rain |
| Late March or April | 4.06 and 1.97 in | After the wettest months; washes off winter streaks and spring pollen |
| Before listing or hosting | Any month | Everything outside clean for photos, showings or guests |
December, January and February average over 6 inches of rain each in Santa Cruz, so gutters left full going into winter are the ones most likely to overflow.

How to Get Ready for a Combined Visit
A few small things make the day go faster.
- Unlock side gates or leave a code, so we can reach every side of the house.
- Move fragile items away from the base of walls under gutters.
- Keep pets inside while ladders and hoses are out.
- Note anything we should know, like a loose gutter section or a window that sticks.
- Tell us about solar monitoring if you want to compare output before and after.
What Each Part of the Visit Includes

Why We Use Purified Water on Panels and Upper Glass
Tap water in most of Santa Cruz County is moderately hard to very hard, depending on the water system.
Solar panel and water temperature check| Water system | Published hardness |
|---|---|
| City of Santa Cruz | Described as moderately hard |
| Soquel Creek Water District (Capitola, Soquel, Aptos) | 100 to 370 ppm depending on area; hard to very hard |
| San Lorenzo Valley Water District (2022) | Average 108 ppm main system, 218 ppm Felton system |
When hard water dries on glass or panels, it leaves mineral spots. Deionized water has the minerals removed, so it dries without spots. That’s why we use it for solar panels and for upper exterior glass cleaned with a water-fed pole.

Combined Visit FAQ
Can you clean windows, gutters and solar panels in one visit?
Yes. We do the roof and gutters first, solar panels next, and windows last, so nothing lands on clean glass.
Why are windows cleaned last?
Gutter and roof work can knock debris and dirty water onto the glass below. Cleaning windows last keeps them clean.
Is it cheaper to book everything together?
You get one flat quote for the whole visit instead of separate bookings. Call or text photos and we’ll price it both ways if you want to compare.
Do you send photos of the roof work?
Yes, before and after photos of the gutters and solar panels, since you can’t see them from the ground.
Can you add skylights or pressure washing?
Yes. Both fit the same visit.
Do I need to be home for a combo visit?
Not for gutters, solar panels or exterior glass. If interior windows are part of the visit, someone needs to let us in.
How long does a combined visit take?
It depends on the size of the house, the gutter run and the number of panels. You’ll get a time estimate with your quote.
Can I add skylights to the visit?
Yes. Skylights are cleaned while we’re on the roof, after the debris around them is cleared.
What’s the best month for a combined visit?
Early October, before storm season, is a good choice. Late March or April works well too.
Do you remove the debris from the property?
Yes. Gutter debris is bagged and taken away, not left on your patio or lawn.
Is a combined visit cheaper than booking separately?
You get one flat quote for the whole visit. If you want to compare, ask us to price each service separately as well.
Can you do just windows and gutters?
Yes. Any combination works, and we’ll still do the gutters first and the glass last.
Would water alone be able to clean solar panels?
Yes, if it’s the right water and a soft brush does the work. We clean panels with deionized water and soft brushes only, with no soap and no pressure washer. Plain tap water left to dry leaves mineral spots, and a rinse alone won’t lift sticky pollen or salt film.
What happens to a combo visit if it rains?
Light rain doesn’t stop gutter work, but we won’t clean windows or panels in steady rain. We’ll reschedule the glass if needed.
What is the effectiveness of hosing off my dirty roof solar panels every month?
Not very effective. Hose water moves loose dust, but it doesn’t lift salt film or pollen well, and tap water dries into mineral spots. Rain does much the same, sliding dirt to the bottom edge of the panel, where it dries into a stripe. We use deionized water and soft brushes instead.
Will you check my gutters for damage?
We’ll point out anything obvious, like loose sections, sagging runs or leaking seams, and include it in the photos.
Do you need roof access for the solar panels?
Usually yes. We assess the roof before going up and use proper access and footing.
Which areas do you cover for combined visits?
All of Santa Cruz County, including Santa Cruz, Live Oak, Capitola, Soquel, Aptos, Scotts Valley, the San Lorenzo Valley and Watsonville.
Should I move my car before the visit?
It helps to move cars away from the base of the gutters, since debris and rinse water come down during roof work.
Is it OK to clean solar panels with hard water?
It’s better not to. Hard water leaves minerals behind as it dries, so the spots can end up on the glass you just cleaned. If you rinse panels yourself, follow the panel maker’s instructions and avoid letting tap water air dry. Our final rinse is always deionized water, which dries without spots.
